DParts Oil filter adaptor 

Allows the use of WIX spin on filters - eliminating the plastic housing and cartridge-based filtering systems and allowing the use of a better filtering and better-flowing filter. Made from anodized 6061 aluminum for maximum corrosion protection.

DParts filter adapter allows for the use of a spin-on oil filter, rather than the plastic housing & cartridge-style original filters, and improves oil filtration by eliminating the problematic factory filter bypass that can allow contaminants back into your engine.

The oil filter adaptor allows for full flow filtration by adopting spin-on filters, allowing for better oil filtration and higher flow of oil. The traditional plastic housing unit with the bypass spring built into it can wear over time and allow oil to bypass the filter. The oil bypass is designed to allow oil to pass around the filter if it becomes clogged and unusable however due to age this spring can wear and lose tension allowing for oil to bypass the filter. The WIX filter also has an oil bypass spring built in however, with each new filter installed a new spring is inside! Hence a brand new spring is installed upon each filter change.

When installing, be sure to lubricate both the external and internal o-rings with clean engine oil. Screw the oil filter adapter onto the engine by hand. Once the spin-on filter adapter is fully engaged to the block, use a 26mm socket and torque to 25 Nm (18 Ft/Lbs). Also, be sure to oil the filter gasket.

The filter should be installed by hand then once snug, turned another 3/4 to 1 turn to finish filter installation or to the filter manufacturer's recommended specifications.

Oil change interval should not exceed 6 months or 5,000 miles for street using a 0w40 or 5w50 viscosity motor oil; higher viscosity is not recommended. The filter used in conjunction with the spin-on oil filter adapter (Wix 51042) is an excellent choice for this application with adequate size and very high burst strength.

N.B. Both o-rings should be changed every 1-2 oil changes to prevent leaks (a replacement set of o-rings is included).

Fits 986/987 as well as 996/997 models (& Cayenne S/Turbo MY03-06) & replaces Porsche part numbers 996 107 020 53 (54, 55) and 996-107-225-53.

NOTE: Does not work with 996/997 Turbo/GT2/GT3 engines.
